If you ever attend the expat evenings on Tuesday or Friday, be sure to introduce yourself to me. Remember, Tuesday is Italian night, D' Baco's.Jimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08896957392015319062noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-311130598749211263.post-24096817881647266022011-04-04T20:06:02.788-05:002011-04-04T20:06:02.788-05:00Hi Jim, my first name is also Mary (Mary Susan), b...Hi Jim, my first name is also Mary (Mary Susan), but my family always called me Susie. I graduated to Sue when I went to college. I also enjoyed reading your post. My mother-in-law was Italian (DiVincenzo) and she loved to make pizzells and I loved to eat them.

I have wonderful memories at my grandfather's house when I was young and there were kids everywhere (playing kick the can, making mud pies, pretend playing with our dolls). It was a blast. Also, summer nights at the ballpark and our parents never knew where we were. I guess our kids have different kinds of memories. Odd though, there were no girls named Mary Magdeline. I wonder how that would have gone over with the nuns?Jimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08896957392015319062noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-311130598749211263.post-679693378891294632011-04-04T07:39:53.968-05:002011-04-04T07:39:53.968-05:00Oh Jim, this was a really fun read for me. I have two first cousins named Mary and everyone on my father’s side of the family calls me Mary K, even though my middle name is CATHERINE with a C. The name stuck because I was too young to protest. In fourth grade the nun wanted to call me Kathy because there were too many Marys in her class. She was quite taken back at my insistence, “NO, that’s not my name.” To this day my I have to identify myself as Mary K to my relatives. Sometimes my husband will affectionately call me Mary C.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
